Broadcast And Streaming Technology

  1. A report from Transparency Market Research Inc. indicates that the global WebRTC market is experiencing significant growth, with its value standing at US$ 4.30 billion in 2021. The market is projected to progress at a Compound Annual Growth Rate of 35.3% during the forecast period (2022-2031), reaching an anticipated value of US$ 87.84 billion by 2031. This growth underscores the increasing demand for web-based real-time communication tools across various industries (Rohit Bhisey, 2022).

  2. The same report from Transparency Market Research Inc. also states that in the near future, businesses such as smart manufacturing, connected vehicles, and telecoms will benefit from the integration of WebRTC with 5G technology. Smart factories, for instance, can leverage WebRTC's secure communication, interoperability, and flexibility features, as well as its high bandwidth and low latency, to make real-time decisions, resulting in improved performance and process effectiveness (Rohit Bhisey, 2022).

  3. According to the ResearchAndMarkets.com WebRTC Global Market Report 2023, WebRTC will be the RTC platform of choice with the introduction of 5G and the expansion of OTT offerings (Laura Wood, 2023).

  4. A report from TV NewsCheck states that ATSC 3.0 high-speed data delivery is emerging as the most effective and efficient option for connected-car features such as infotainment, software updates, and geolocation. Connected cars are becoming software-defined and data-consuming devices, and ATSC 3.0 can send one file to a million vehicles simultaneously instead of sending the same file a million times to each vehicle, making it an ideal enabling technology for the digital automotive transition (McAdams, 2022).

  5. In the Frontiers in Signal Processing editorial "Video Content Production and Delivery Over IP Networks and Distributed Computing Facilities" by Naccari et al., the authors discuss the shift towards IP-based production and distribution platforms, which replace costly infrastructures with simple IP networks and cloud-based computing. This transition requires new mezzanine compression techniques compatible with general-purpose computing commodities (Naccari et al., n.d. 2021).

  6. Research from the IEEE Communications Magazine highlights the growing importance of edge computing in supporting low-latency, high-quality video streaming services, particularly for applications such as virtual reality and gaming (Shi, Cao, Zhang, Li, & Xu, 2016).

  7. A study published in the Journal of Network and Computer Applications found that the implementation of multicast technologies can lead to significant improvements in network efficiency and scalability for live video streaming services (Karray, 2008).
